C1 Elimination of salmonids in some high mountain lakes

Type: C | Status: Pending

The action will take place in 3 lakes of SCI Aigüestortes where fishing is not permitted because it is an area of strict protection of the Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici.

The main aim of this action is to eliminate three species of salmonids that have been introduced, since ancient times, in the high mountain lakes of the Pyrenees: the Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) that was brought from Canada, the Brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) also of north-American origin and the Brown trout (Salmo trutta) that despite being a native species of our rivers it is not from lakes where it has also been introduced.
